Creating a backyard oasis with plants and seating

It’s been on my mind for weeks how to turn my backyard into a relaxing oasis where I can unwind after work and also host small gatherings on weekends. Right now, it’s mostly bare soil with a few random shrubs, and even after putting out a small table and chair, it still feels uninspiring. I want it to be a place with comfortable seating, some greenery, and maybe a little decorative touch like stones or lanterns that can make it cozy without requiring constant maintenance. Figuring out how to combine beauty, comfort, and practicality in such a small space has been trickier than I expected.

A solution that helped me a lot was looking for advice from local professionals who know what thrives in our climate. I came across some tips from Landscapers in Duncan, BC, which suggested layering hardy shrubs, perennials, and small decorative elements to create a balanced, low-maintenance space. I also added a couple of cushioned chairs, a small table, and some hanging lanterns, which immediately changed the atmosphere. Now the backyard feels inviting both during the day and evening, and it’s a space where I can relax alone or enjoy casual gatherings without worrying about constant upkeep.
